The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has nullified its "informal approach" of restricting ladies to take their better half's name on their automated public personality card (CNIC) after marriage, the power's administrator Tariq Malik reported on Friday.

He explained it was no regulation that made it necessary for ladies to take their significant other's name or look for consent from the spouse for refreshing their name on the CNIC after getting hitched.

Malik said a crackdown will be sent off on those mocking the new orders.
